Next-Make presents, for its 2010-2011 project...

... the Next House Party System!

Inspired by their summer projects (making their Next house dorm rooms glow and pulse to the beat of the music), a few Next-Makers realized it's been a while since Next House has thrown a party on campus. They were pretty wild back in the day. It's time to use the skills we've learned at MIT and our geekdom to construct equipment for the most epic party of all time. OF ALL TIME.

Next House Party System

The Next House party system will consist of lots of ultra-bright, super intense RGB LED's (colored lights) synchronized to the music. But that's not all... we're also planning to use some crazy strobe effects, and even black lights to make the party experience awesome. We'll build all of this lighting equipement, and develop the software necessary to control out and make an out-of-this-world party experience that no one will want to miss.

The project will be divided into three main areas:

  • Electronics. This subteam will design the electronics to power our ridiculous LED's, and figure out how to power everything.
  • Software. This subteam will develop the code that analyzes the music, and figures out what colors everything should be.
  • Mechanical. This subteam will design and machine the mounts for our lighting equipment, and make sure everything is solidly put together.
